Shop vintage and more from our curated selection of style-related, local and small businesses inside the historic 1870 Pico House. Built as the first grand hotel in all of Los Angeles, this special venue is not normally open to the public. Arrive by train or metro at Union Station and we're a short walk across the street South of the Plaza Bandstand.

"DAPPER DAY Visits Olvera Street"

“Step out in style” as we enjoy the shops, restaurants, music, and museums of historic El Pueblo de la Reina de los Ángeles—the birthplace of Los Angeles! This is your chance to dress to express as we celebrate original style from yesterday and today. 

Our “DAPPER DAY Visits Olvera Street” outing is a free event organized in partnership with El Pueblo de Los Angeles and the City of Los Angeles.

Don’t miss:

  • La Plaza de Cultura y Artes - Across the street from Pico House, this museum features a charming recreation of 1920s Main Street LA including a self-serve period photo op. Also see the main floor exhibit chronicling the music scene (and related fashions) of East Los Angeles. Free, open Sunday noon-5p (last entry at 4:30p)
  • Avila Adobe - Built in 1818 it’s one of the oldest homes in Los Angeles. Free, open Sunday 9a-4p
  • Old Plaza Firehouse - Built in 1884 it’s the oldest fire station in the city. Free, open Sunday 10a-3p
  • The Chinese American Museum - Next to Pico House, behind the original firehouse, find an exhibit on Hollywood legend Anna May Wong, and a recreation of the Sun Wing Wo General Store and Herb Shop from the 1890s. $3 suggested donation, open Sunday 10a-3p
