Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is an annual Holiday Nov 1 & 2 celebrating loved ones who have passed. Originating in Mexico, the Holiday has roots in ancient Aztec culture where it was believed the dead preferred we honored them with lively festivities instead of reserved sadness. One of the most iconic symbols of Día de los Muertos are colorful calaveras often rendered as decorated sugar skulls in traditional ofrendas (offerings or alters) honoring the dead.
